It is common for fabric items to have a musty smell, especially in humid environments. Whether it is liquid spilling into the bag and causing a moldy odor, or storing the canvas bag in a damp basement, you want to eliminate the odor so that you can use it again. There are several ways to safely deodorize canvas bags.
Add white vinegar to the spray bottle, spray the spray evenly on the inside and outside of the canvas bag, and let the canvas bag dry naturally. If not all, most of the musty smell should be removed.
Sprinkle baking soda in a canvas bag and let it stand overnight to absorb excess odor or moisture. Shake the canvas bag outdoors the next day to remove the baking soda, then turn the bag over and sprinkle the baking soda into the bag. This will deodorize the outer fabric of the bag. Turn the bag over the next day and shake it to remove the excess baking soda.
Please read the care instruction label of the canvas bag. If allowed, use the recommended washing program to wash in the washing machine. Generally, warm water circulation and drying can safely clean and deodorize the bag without causing damage.
